Mango Recall extended to Ready Pac Foods product

Ready Pac Foods, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of its products that contain, or may contain,  Daniella brand mangos, due to potential contamination with Salmonella Braenderup.  No illnesses have been reported from Ready-Pac products and the company states that it is recalling its products that contain potentially contaminated mangoes “out of an abundance of caution” as reported by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infections with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.  For more information about Salmonella, please see our Salmonella page

The voluntary recall extends  to the products listed below and sold in the following states: Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Washington D.C., Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and Canada.
