On April 5, the apple producer Fresh from Texas issued a voluntary recall for multiple products that contain sliced red apples. Internal company testing revealed that these apples may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. After the positive test, production was promptly stopped. The recalled apples were sold to HEB and distributed to retail locations across the state of Texas. Recalled products were packaged in bags or clear containers. A full list of recalled products can be found below.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause a very serious illness known as Listeriosis. Symptoms of Listeria may appear between 3 days and 2 months after infection, and will include stiff neck, fever, diarrhea, nausea, muscle aches, and headaches. The elderly, children, pregnant women, and those with suppressed immune systems are at an increased risk of developing a serious infection. If you or a loved one begins to show the symptoms of Listeria poisoning, contact a medical professional.
